Championship on The Line for Hobby’s and Crate Sprints
MARYSVILLE, Calif., Sept 3, 2024…Welcome back to Marysville Raceway. This Saturday night, September 7, championship auto racing returns to the Action Track of the West. After a month-long hiatus, the sights and sounds of dirt track racing resume with a can’t miss show. This Saturday, champions will be crowned in the Hobby Stocks and Crate Sprint Car divisions. Joining those two powerhouses will be the 360 sprint cars.
Pit gate is scheduled to open at 3 PM. Front gate set to open at 5 PM. Winged 360 sprint car qualifying begins at 6:30 PM with racing to follow.

Adult general admission ticket is $17.00. Seniors, Juniors, Military with ID (ages 62+ and 12 to 15) $15.00. Kids (6 – 11) are $8.00. Children five and under are FREE. As always, parking is FREE.

The Hobby Stock championship battle has been fierce all season long. Kyle Cheney holds a slim three-point edge over two-time and defending champion Howard Law. While the point margin is slim, the main event difference has been huge. Cheney has 6 main event wins to Laws two. This battle will come down to the last lap of Saturday night’s main event. The third spot is also up for grabs. Jason Clayton Sr. holds a seven-point advantage over Matt Beardslee. Both drivers have five top five finishes and exactly eight top ten finishes. Dave Thompson and Willy King are tied for fifth in points. So, as you can see, multiple drivers will be not only competing against the ret of the field on Saturday, but also individual battled amongst certain drivers.
At this point, Koa Crane has a stranglehold on the Crate Sprint title. His 21-point margin over Matthew Kaiser is going to be tough for Kaiser to overcome. But anything can happen in racing, and if Crane has any sort of issues, this could open the door for Kaiser. Like the Hobby Stocks, the third spot battle is a tight one. Jason Ballantine holds a small two-point advantage over Derek Droivold. Ballantine does have one main event win this season. Caleb Ingle sits in the fifth spot. He is 10-points to the good of Misty Castleberry.
Many times, the 360 sprint cars get the top billing. However, this division still has two more nights of point racing including this Saturday, and the following weekend on September 14. With that said, there is still quite the family affair up front for the championship. Carson Hammes holds a 12-point lead over older brother Dawson Hammes. Both brothers have 2 main event wins this season. Their domination is quite evident once you look at the third-place driver in points Dryver Dothage, who is 75-points back of leader Carson. Billy Wallace is six points better than Drake Standley for the fourth-place spot in points.
