Gene Pires Wins Pro Main Event

Marysville, CA (September 24, 2016) – Gene Pires won an exciting 30-lap main event Saturday night at Marysville Raceway. Pires win took place during the 21st Annual Western States Dwarf Car Nationals. While Pires led the way during the Pro Division main event, racing behind him was intense. David Teves shadowed Pires for most of the race. At times Shawn Jones was also a factor. But for the second night in a row his car suffered a mechanical failure and his race came to a stop on lap nine. Near the end of the race Terre Rothweiler passed Teves and for second. Danny Wagner finished fourth but was up front most of the race. Chad Matthias came home with a strong fifth place finish. Jones won the 15-lap B main event. Pires won the fast dash that gave him the pole position of the main event. Brock Peters, Jeff Fitch and Guy Tow Jr. each won their eight lap heat races.

Kevin Bender won the 20 lap Veteran Division main event. Bender also won the Friday night feature. With the win Bender also won the Veteran Division point championship. Buddy Olschowka gave everything he had to pass Bender but was never successful. On the final restart Erik Weisler was able to pass Olschowka. Mark Biscardi at times was just as fast as Bender but never could catch a break on some of the restarts near the end of the event. Biscardi ended up finishing fourth. Mike Reeder came home fifth. Biscardi won the B main event. Bender beat Tim Fitzpatrick in the 10 lap fast dash. Dan Geil and Jack Haverty each won their heat races.

Cody Peters won a 13 lap Sportsman Division feature event. The race was originally scheduled for 20 laps but had to be shortened due to the amount of cautions that slowed the event. Brett Olney finished in the second spot. Ryan Klein, who brought an energetic fan base, finished in the third spot. Ken Radabaugh and Jake Trupper rounded out the top five. Peters won the fast dash. Kyle Jones won the lone heat race for the division.
