(Marysville,CA 1/31/2022) A celebration of the 2021 Auto Racing season for Marysville
Raceway took place Saturday evening January 29th at the Doubletree by Hilton in Chico. One
hundred fifty jubilant people attended to celebrate the achievements of their local heroes with
awards, speeches, fun, and fellowship.
The evening kicked off with a no host cocktail hour followed by pleasing dinner prepared by the
Doubletree staff. Master of ceremonies, Troy Hennig kicked off the awards ceremony with an
overview of the 2021 season at Marysville highlighting the championship season where
competitors tested their skills against each other accumulating points along the way.
The night was sponsored by Hoosier Racing Tires and the top five in each division received a
portion the Hoosier Championship fund along with a handsome trophy for their season long
efforts.
Veteran sprint car driver Billy Wallace led the award winners by capturing the 360 winged sprint
Car title. Wallace was a repeat winner, but also revealed that his upcoming season will be
backed by Napa Auto Parts. Wallace and his Father Larry have been involved in the sport for
more than 4 decades. Joining him on the podium was Sport Modified champion Todd Cooper.
Dan Brown, Limited late model champion was sidelined with Covid complications and Crate
Sprint car champion Brett Youngman was not able to attend.
The largest contingent came to support Hobby Stock champion Jacob Johnson. It was Johnson’s
first championship as he narrowly defeated local rival Jerry Bartlett. A huge group got there
early and stayed late to make sure the youngster got ample recognition.
