Wallace Wins Race; Brown Crowned Champion
Marysville, CA (September 23, 2016) – Three-time sprint car track champion Billy Wallace won the 15-lap winged economy sprint car main event Friday night at Marysville. Wallace bested nine other drivers to get the popular win. Even though he didn’t get a chance to finish the main event, Wyatt Brown secured the track championship once he took the original green flag in the feature event. After the first lap was completed, Brown backed his car into the turn one wall. The damage sent him to the work area to make repairs. Unfortunately, he didn’t receive enough time to make repairs. The race continued on without him as he sat helpless in the work area.
The first attempt at a start was called back when Jeff Macedo lost steering and accidently hit Cameron Haney. Both cars suffered damage and did not continue. Once the track was cleared and we went back to racing it was evident that Wallace was in a class all of his own. At one point Wallace enjoyed a half lap lead. Darren Johnson did a great job to work his way into the second spot at the finish. Adam Ermolenko drove a solid race to finish third.
Brown and his team came back out after the races to celebrate the track championship on the front stretch. It was his second track championship of the year. Back in August he won the Silver Dollar Speedway title by a narrow margin. “It’s all about the support I get from my family and friends,” said Brown. “This car is a pleasure to drive because of the all the hard work we do during the week.”
