Back to Back Wins for Lindgren
PRESS RELEASE-FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lindgren Goes Back-to-Back at Marysville Raceway
(Marysville, CA 3/25/23)…Zach Lindgren is becoming the new face of Hobby Stock racing at Marysville Raceway. Lindgren led all 20-lap in convincing style to capture his second win in a row. Kyle Cheney rebounded from a tough opening night to finish second. Cheney should be commended for his resilience of not giving up. He also held off one of the all-time greats in Howard Law. The top three were spectacular all night. Joining into the threesome was Phillip Shelby. These four top notch drivers were equally fast. Fifth spot went to hard charging Sebastian Davis. Davis started ninth, fell back to 11th, and charged into a top five finish. Another solid car count attended point race two, as 25 total drivers signed into the pit area. Lindgren was a social media star after the win with accolades galore being posted on FACEBOOK about his second win in a row.
The IMCA Sport Mods car count was spectacular. Twenty-two cars were in attendance to thrill the fans. The 20-lap main event was great. Raymond Lindeman led the first six laps. On lap seven, Phillip Shelby took the lead. Shelby went on to lead the next 11 laps with ease and looked to be headed to victory lane. Yet, coming out of turn four and set to complete the 18th lap, Shelby drifted wide when dealing with slower traffic, and was passed by Lindeman. The final two laps were fast and furious. Lindeman was able to hold off Shelby and get the win. Shelby finished second. Jimmy Ford moved into the third spot on lap 14, after Shaun Merritt crashed into the back stretch wall. Ford was able to hold off a hard charging Mark Garner. Garner raced his way into the fourth-place finish after starting in the 12th spot. Jason Ryan Jr. was solid all night and captured the fifth-place finish.
The Dwarf Car main event had four different leaders during their 20-lap feature. The race was fun to watch. Dan Geil jumped out to the early lead. Shawn Whitney was super exciting tonight. Whitney took the lead on lap three. He was using every inch of the racetrack to find the fastest groove. On lap 11, in turn two, Whitney spun around and collected Cody Shrum. Mike Reeder was the new leader but that was short lived as 14th starting Kinser Endicott led the next lap. Endicott then slowed, giving Reeder the lead back. Endicott fell back to seventh and then finished fifth. Whitney was trying to charge through the field also. He fell back to 11th after his spin, but made his way back to a fourth-place finish. Geil rebounded from falling to the seventh spot after his early troubles and raced into a third place finish. Mike Reeder was on the gas all night. The final five laps, Reeder and Mike Grenert waged an all out war for the win. Two of the best went at it for the final five laps. In the end, Reeder was able to barely hold off Grenert for the win.
The Xtreme Ltd. Late Model Series only started six cars for their 20-lap feature. Dan Brown Jr. only completed one lap because of a mechanical issue. Up front Ray Trimble led the first nine laps. Matt Micheli missed the heat race, started fifth, and by lap 10 was the leader. Micheli went on to get the win. Rod Oliver finished second. Trimble spun on the last lap and it allowed Jeff Browne to finish third. Trimble was fourth and Thomas Reynolds finished fifth.
Phil Shelby won the spirited 12-lap B main for the Hobby Stocks. Kinser Endicott won the 12-lap Dwarf Car B race.
Kevin Bender won the first heat race for the Dwarf Cars. Dylan Shrum picked up the heat two win. Shawn Whitney won the third heat. Mike Reeder picked off the win in heat four.
