Forsberg Cast Spell in Marysville

(For Immediate Release)

(Marysville, CA 10/26/2024) Driving his pumpkin orange sprint car Andy Forsberg cast a spell on past Spooktacular winner Sean Becker and raced to a decisive victory in the Paul Hawes Memorial Spooktacular 25 lap sprint car main event Saturday night in Marysville. Forsberg not only raced well but generously gave gifts to the hundreds of kids who joined in for the annual Halloween celebration at the speedway.  He also was among the dozens of drivers who lined up at intermission to hand out candy for “Track or Treat”.

Jake Morgan outran Shane Hopkins in a strong Wingless spec. sprint 20 lap feature event. 2024 Crate sprint car champion Koe Crane outran a big field in 20 laps to pick up the win.  The Lightning sprints were led by Scott Kinney in the final 20 lapper of the all-sprint night.

Cody Gray got the drop on Forsberg at the start of the feature, but the veteran quickly wheeled around the youngster.  Becker advanced from 7th starting position to second midway in the event and had the speed to track Forsberg but fell short when  the Mike Shirley checkered waved.  Gray held onto 3rd in the fast-paced event while Seth  Standley took fourth and Shane Hopkins fifth.  Gray, Forsberg, Steven Ingraham, and Dawson Hammes all won heat races.

Morgan controlled the trouble plagued wingless event where 6 of the original 19 starters finished.  Hopkins, who drove in two divisions, dogged him in second.  Trey Walters, Cody Meyer, and Daniel Dekeyser rounded out the top five.  Heat winners were Morgan, Hopkins, and Mark Hanson.

Jeremy Hawes, making a rare appearance in the race that honors his father, led the early going In the Crate sprint feature until the motor gave up in the Sims 101.  Crane was there to take over and had three different challengers before taking the win.  Matther Kaiser was second followed by Caleb Ingle, Jason Ballentine, and Derek Droivold.  Heat winners were Misty Castleberry and Jeremy Wilson.

Kinney was chased by Matt Land the entire distance of the Lightning sprint main event which had Austin Struthers earn roll over honors for the night executing two in the same event.  After Land came Jason Schostag, Gregg Dennett, and Kindel Barstow.   Heat winners were Schostag and Bradley Schmidt.

71 cars reported for the H&H trenching sponsored event that closed the season in Marysville for 2024. The new year will kick off with New Years Day practice on Jan 1.
