William Fielding Wins First Feature

Marysville, CA (March 31, 2018) …. Hard work and persistence paid off for William Fielding Saturday night at Marysville Raceway. What was a six-year journey for Fielding finally paid off when the local driver led all 25-laps to capture his first career sprint car main event. “I have been dreaming of this moment for the last six years,” said Fielding in victory lane. Fielding was surrounded by over 30 family members and friends. The victory lane photos were reminiscent of a NASCAR celebration as multiple people kept jumping into the numerous pictures that were being taken. It was a fitting way for him to pick up his first win. Just two weeks prior, Fielding volunteered at the track on a Friday to help get it ready for the Civil War sprint car race that following Saturday night. “This is real special,” said Fielding. “I am overwhelmed with happiness.”
The race started with Fielding leading the first lap. The track was fast and narrow. This suited Fielding just perfectly as he was turning fast and consistent lap times. He was the class of the field right out of the gate.
Lap 12 a nasty accident took place when Brent Bjork flipped down the back stretch. As the car came to a stop it caught fire. Bjork was able to escape the inferno without injury. Once the race restarted Fielding was back up front and in control.
Kyle Standley brought out another red a few moments later when he went high into turn one and hit the fence. In fact, the car stuck on it’s nose while stuck in the fence. He was uninjured but unable to return.
Fielding continued to lead with ease. The only time he was slowed up again was on lap 22 when Michael Ing spun in turn one to bring out the nights final caution. The final three laps clicked off and Fielding was able to enjoy his first career sprint car win. Garen Linder drove a great race and finished second. It was nice to see the Oregon driver compete tonight. Jeremy Hawes did the best he could and came home with a third-place finish. Heath Hall ran a respectable fourth. Kenny Allen charged from dead last to finish fifth.
Thirty Dwarf car drivers attended tonight’s race. Not only was there a lot of cars but tons of talent in the division. The main event was entertaining to say the least. Kevin Bender scored the impressive win during the Dwarf Car 20-lap main event. Bender held off a charging Ryan Winter to earn the popular win. A late race caution set up a two-lap dash to the finish. Bender did all he could to hold off Winter and get the victory. Danny Wagner was also looking for the win. Wagner ran inside the top five all night and ended up third. Scott Dahlgren raced his way into a fourth-place finish. Zach Price had a solid night and finished fifth.
Jeff Macedo swept the nights racing action for the Crate Sprints. Macedo won the eight-lap heat race and then backed that up by winning the 20-lap feature. Dusty Barton finished second but was disqualified post-race. This moved Jaylon Deas up to a second-place finish. A good turnout of eight Crate Sprints participated in night one.
Chris Warner led the first lap of the Super Stock feature. But after the first lap he pulled into the infield. That left Eddie Gardner and James Castleberry as the only two drivers left. The battled it out the remaining laps. The race ended up going 20 laps non-stop. In the end it was Gardner winning the race. Castleberry came home second.
