Father’s Day Special on Saturday Night
Marysville, CA (June 12, 2018) – It is not easy being a dad. However, this Saturday night Marysville Raceway is offering a discount to all dads in attendance. Just $9 will get each dad into the main grandstands for point race #9. It is our way of giving dad a break this Saturday night.
Five rip roaring divisions will once again be ready to attack the quarter-mile clay oval. The winged 360 sprint cars, Super Stocks, Hobby Stocks, IMCA Sport Mods and Crate Sprints are all slated to put on a great entertaining show.
The pit gate will open at 3 PM while the front grandstand gate opens at 5 PM. Starting this Saturday, the pit meeting is being moved from 5:30 PM to 5 PM in hopes of getting the competitors on the track earlier for wheel packing and hot laps.
Adult general admission is $13.00 into the grandstands. All dads are just $9.00 tonight. Seniors, juniors and Military with ID are just $11.00 each. Kids, six to eleven years old, are $6.00. Children five and under are FREE. A family pass is available and consists of 2 adult tickets, 2 junior tickets or 3 kid’s tickets for a combined price of $40.00.
Chico’s Kenny Allen has closed to within two points of Marysville’s Jeremy Hawes for the lead in the winged 360 sprint car division. Reno’s Mike Monahan is making this a three-car battle for the championship and sits just nine points back of Hawes. This division is so equal that in 2018 there has been no repeat main event winner.
As with the sprints cars, the IMCA Sport Mod division is also turning into a three-car battle for the year long track championship. Damian Merritt holds a 10-point edge over Jimmy Ford. Howard Law sits 18-point back of Merritt. These three drivers have been the only three to attend all five IMCA Sport Mod point shows. Andrew Peckham has two wins this year and sits fourth in the points but missed a show earlier this season.
Six drivers have attended all the Crate Sprint point shows and because of this there is a log jam in the points. Local favorite Jeff Macedo is the leader of the group and holds an 11-point edge over Mike Sayre. Both drives have earned four top five finishes in four starts. Macedo had a win while Sayre has been close to victory lane all season. Jaylon Deas and Cameron Haney are sitting third and fourth. Chad Thompson rounds out the top five.
Super Street Stock racing continues to see a battle at the top between Chris Warner and James Castleberry. Warner has a five-point edge. Rod Oliver is the most recent winner and sits third in points.
Shannon Collins leads the Hobby Stock division. Last Saturday night Collins won the feature event. The main was highly entertaining and had seven different lead changes. Collins leads Mel Byers by three-points in the standings. Jeremiah Creedon is just eight-points back of Collins. David Caluya rounds out the top five and is just nine-points back of Collins.
