High Speed Thrills Returns This Saturday

Marysville, CA (March 19, 2019) – The sights and sounds of high-speed auto racing returns to Marysville Raceway this Saturday night, March 23rd. The return of winged 360 sprints, Super Street Stocks, IMCA Pepsi Sport Mods and Hobby Stocks are sure to thrill the grandstand crowd. Large car counts and big-time motorsports racing are expected this Saturday.
The pit gate will open at 3 PM while the front grandstand gate opens at 5 PM. Race cars on the track at 6 PM.
Adult admission into the grandstands is $13.00. Juniors, seniors and military with ID are just $11.00. Kids 6-11 are $6 and five and under are FREE. A family pass for $40 gets two adults and two juniors or three kids 11 and under into the grandstands. As always, parking is FREE.
Chico’s Michael Ing will look to repeat as the winner in the winged 360 sprint cars. Ing looked almost unbeatable last Saturday night. He will be joined by many local contenders led by Yuba City’s Korey Lovell and teammate Alec Justeson. Bay Area’s Brent Bjork and Reno’s Mike Monahan will also challenge for the win.
After two races for the IMCA Pepsi Sport Mods, once thing is certain, there is a lot of talent in this group. Tied at the top is Bay Area drivers Keith Brown and Guy Ahlwardt. Both are considered some of the best in the area. Add in local favorite Todd Cooper, who picked up the win last Saturday night, and this division is stacked. Jason Ferguson, Mike Merritt and Phillip Shelby are also top-notch drivers.
Super Street Stocks had a nice field of drivers for their opening point race last Saturday night. Local champions Ryan McDaniel dominated the show. However, he is not expected to compete much in this division, which will open the door for Brent Lawrence, Jerry Bartlett or James Castleberry. It will be interesting which one of these three, or someone else, will emerge as the favorite to win it all this season.
The Hobby Stocks make their first appearance of the season this Saturday night. Defending champion Shannon Collins is one tough dude. Displaced over the off season by the horrific Camp Fire, Collins family decided to move to Roseburg, OR. That move will take place next month. They are currently living with Kyle Allen, fellow racer, in Cherokee. Collins will return to his familiar No. 16 and says he is going to make another run at the title, even with the long tow from Oregon. That is the heart and soul of a true Champion.
