Xtreme Night of Racing

Marysville, CA – (3-26-22) …The Xtreme Limited Late Model Series was the featured division during Saturday nights auto racing at Marysville Raceway.  The traveling division featured 14 of the best Limited Late Model drivers in California going for the all-important win at Marysville Raceway.

The Xtreme Limited Late Model main event saw Matt Micheli take the lead.  The caution flag was waived on lap one, when Kiely Ricardo stopped on the front stretch.  Another yellow was needed on lap five when Tyler Lightfoot stopped.  Before going back to green, Michelle Paul and Anthony Slaney had contact in turn four.  The racing up front was fast and furious. On lap 13, Jay Norton secured the second spot from Rod Oliver.  Dan Brown Jr. continued to show why he is a championship caliber driver. He maneuvered a badly deformed car into a third-place finish. Norton took a few chances to try and pass Micheli but was never able to officially lead a lap. In the end Micheli led all 20-laps to get the win. Norton finished a close second.  Oliver was fourth.  Clark Guglielmoni was fifth.

The Crate Sprint Main event started with 18 eager drivers set to win the 20-lap main event.  Cautions plagued the first five laps of the show.  In total, four yellows slowed the race to a crawl.  Cameron Haney Jr. led Mike Hall and Britton Bock.  Hall and Bock exchanged the second spot for a few laps.  On lap seven, the fifth caution once again brought the field back to a single file restart.  Brett Youngman charged into the fourth spot just before the caution was waived.  A few green flag laps produced some good racing throughout the field.  The next caution waived on lap 11.  The final nine laps were great. Bock moved around Hall, but was never able to reel in Haney Jr.  Jacob Johnson, in just his second start, moved from the 7th row, into a fifth-place finish.  Expect big things going forward this season for The Beast.   Haney Jr. was dominate and cruised to the win.  Bock was second.  Hall finished third. Youngman was fourth.  Haney Jr. swept the night as he won his heat race earlier this evening.  Hall and Bock were also victorious in their heat races.

Brian Cooper is turning Marysville Raceway into his personal playground.  Cooper jumped up front quickly and dominated the IMCA Sport Mod 20-lap main event.  At one point, Cooper held almost a half a lap lead over second place Hunter Merritt.  A few minor cautions slowed the race.  Cooper never seemed bothered.  Jimmy Ford held onto the third spot.  Shaun Merritt was fourth and Scott Savell rounded out the top five.  Only seven cars attended the second point race of the year for the Sport Mods.  Cooper also won the 8-lap heat race.

Give the Hobby Stocks the bragging rights again.  This division produced 29 drivers who were ready to race to until the final checkered flag of the night.  Kyle Allen was the leader on lap one during the Hobby Stock main event.  On lap one, David Cooper was charging thru the field and into second spot but was tapped from behind and it sent him hard into the turn one wall.  Cooper would restart at the rear of the field and ultimately finish seventh.  On lap five, Brian Cooper moved past Allen for the lead. Cooper went on to extend his lead.  Things tightened up on lap 13, then Howard Law passed Allen for second.  Law closed in on Cooper. The final few laps were brilliant filled with excitement.  Law pressured Cooper and on the final lap, Cooper drifted up the track.  This allowed Law the chance to make his move. Law drove into the lead and raced back to the checkered flag first.  He officially only led one lap, the most important lap, the final lap. Cooper was second, followed by Allen in third. Jesse Van Roekel raced up through the field and finished fourth. Van Roekel was the hardest charger after starting 16th.  Zach Lindgren started 12th but charged to a fifth-place finish.  Rookie driver Brian Horn won the B main event. Law swept the night because he won the first heat race.  Toby Merrifield won the second heat race. Preston Hughes got the win in heat three. Lindgren won the fourth and final heat.
